DEMENTIA Action/Awareness week began on Monday and Duchess Gardens Care Centre in Bingley (part of Qualia care) organised a sponsored bike ride from Silsden to Leeds and back along the canal this Wednesday.
Three staff members took part in the ride. The plucky trio were the care centre's head chef, a support worker and the activities co-ordinator.
They set off at 8:30 am from Silsden Canal and returned back as heroes at 3:45pm. Residents at the home came out and cheered them on through their return.
The home are holding fundraising events throughout the week. As well as the bike ride, they are holding a non-uniform day and on Sunday, a spring fair.
All proceeds made throughout this week will be split between the Dementia Friends Keighley Charity and the home's residents activities fund.
