A SPOKESPERSON for Fairweather Green fire station has confirmed that a house fire in Bradford on Friday was down to an electrical fault, and he urged people to be more cautious around the home.

Fire crews from two Bradford stations were scrambled to a house in Great Horton after a fire broke out in the first floor of a house.

Two fire engines from Bradford fire station and one from Fairweather Green were called to the blaze in St Margaret’s Road, Great Horton, to reports of a house fire at just before 3pm.

Upon arrival crews found a fire in the first floor of the house, with the building 50 per cent involved in the fire.

Three hose reels and six breathing apparatus had to be used to tackle the fire, and then positive pressure ventilation fans were used to clear smoke from the property.

Nobody was injured as there was no one in the property at the time.

A spokesperson from Fairweather Green station said: "We have established that the fire was caused by an electrical fault.

"We want people to be mindful of leaving electrical items unattended and we would urge you to switch them off when possible, such as when they are not being used."
