THE Fox in Shipley was presented with CAMRA’s Outer Bradford Pub of the Year award yesterday, with the organisation's campaigns officer and deputy chair, Peter Down, praising the atmosphere at the venue.

Mr Down said the awards had been split into Central and Outer pub categories and that although the Record Cafe on North Parade won overall, The Fox gave it a good run.

He said: "There were only three points between the top three pubs. The Fox has been our overall runner up since 2015 so it's kept its consistency by always being up there.

"It won the Outer award for its friendly service, range and quality of beers, as well as the good atmosphere.

"It's very relaxed in there and there's always something going on, like the bands they have playing on Saturday nights."

Asked what The Fox could do to go one better next year, Mr Down said: "There's always room for improvement with any pub.

"Just a few tweaks around the edges could do the trick. It does maintain a high standard though and it's very popular.

"To be honest, they're not really doing anything wrong."
