TITUS Salt School has issued a statement following a 'disorder' incident in Saltaire yesterday.

Police said they were called to the Roberts Park area at around 3.10pm.

"There were initial reports that a weapon was involved but no weapon was found," said a police spokesperson.

"No one is believed to have been injured during the incident.

"A 16-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and has been released on bail."

Inspector Craig Stothers of the Shipley Neighbourhood Policing Team, said. “This incident has caused concern in the local community and we have increased patrols in the area to offer a reassuring presence.”

Ian Morrel, head teacher at the school, said it had involved "a group of young men visiting the area".

"Understandably this incident has caused concern and we believe there will be an increased police presence around Saltaire today to give further reassurance of public safety," he said in a statement.

"We will continue to be in communication with the police to ensure the safety of our pupils and continue to provide for their education."
