THE fostering service run by Bradford Council is celebrating a national campaign to raise the profile of fostering and to show how foster care can transform the lives of looked after children in the district.

Foster Care Fortnight 2019, which is the UK's biggest foster care awareness raising campaign, takes place from Monday, May 13 to Sunday, May 26.

The campaign supports fostering services to highlight the need for more foster carers and states thousands of new foster families are needed every year to care for children, with the greatest need being for foster carers for older children, sibling groups, disabled children and unaccompanied asylum seeking children.

Sheila Davies, Bradford Council Fostering Service Manager, said: "We already have a tremendous network of dedicated foster carers, but we always need more. Fostering is a challenging role, but it can make a real difference to a child's life.

"Foster Care Fortnight is a great way to raise the profile of fostering and also celebrate the great work that goes on in our district."

Anyone interested in fostering a child should call 01274 434444 or complete the form at www.fosterbradford.co.uk, where anonymous profiles of real children in need of care are featured.
