SIX cars were seized by police yesterday as part of a crackdown on untaxed vehicles in a problem area of the city.
Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Operation Steerside and the DVLA carried out an operation in the Scholemoor area, after concerns were raised by local residents about the number of untaxed cars being used in the area.
A total of eight vehicles were clamped as part of the crackdown, including Audis, Vauxhalls, a Mercedes-Benz, a BMW, a Nissan pick-up truck and a Ford Transit.
Of those vehicles, two owners paid their vehicle tax on the spot, while the remaining six were seized and and loaded onto tow trucks to be taken away.
The punishment for driving without road tax is an £80 fine, which if not paid on time could lead to your car being crushed.
