One of the star attractions at a railway gala held in the district over the weekend has had to be withdrawn from all upcoming events amid "bitter disappointment."
The prototype High Speed Train (HST) power car, numbered 41001, entertained the crowds at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway’s diesel and mixed traffic gala.
However, the unique locomotive developed a “possible engine issue” while hauling a service between Keighley and Oxenhope on Monday, the concluding day of the gala. The issue requires “further investigation” and the loco will not run again in the meantime to “prevent any major damage.”
A statement from the 125 Group said: “41001 has shown signs of a possible engine issue.
"We have regretfully withdrawn it from all forthcoming commitments as a precaution and to prevent any major damage.
“We are bitterly disappointed that 41001, which is owned by the National Railway Museum, will not be entertaining the crowds, hauling trains at the Severn Valley Railway (SVR).
"Following almost five years of reliable operation, the historic power car will be stood down from traffic pending investigation."
It will now be on static display at the SVR Spring diesel festival.
