A WOMAN was raped after being stabbed in the neck and punched in a “frenzied” cocaine-fuelled attack, a court has been told.

It heard a man was also left with severe brain injuries after being subject to repeated punches and stabbings in the same incident.

Wayne McNally, 34, of John Street, Tong Street, is accused of the attempted murder of the man and the rape and assault of a woman, before trying to flee to his home country of Ireland.

Prosecutor Gerald Hendron told Bradford Crown Court the events unfolded in December 2018.

On December 22, McNally had met the woman to go Christmas shopping in Bradford city centre.

Following the trip, they visited a pub before returning to McNally’s home in John Street, where he packed a bag and ordered some cocaine, which they both took, before going to Asda to buy a bottle of vodka.

From there, they went to the woman’s home, where they began drinking while she wrapped Christmas presents, before the second alleged victim, a man, turned up at the house a couple of hours later.
He joined them in drinking and taking cocaine, before the attack took place in the early hours.

Mr Hendron said: “McNally accused the man of having sex with the woman, which they both denied, and she tried to change the conversation.

“He asked, ‘Why are you changing the subject?’, and started punching the man repeatedly. The woman said he roared at her and took a swing at her with a pair of scissors used to wrap presents.

“He stabbed her in the neck and blood began to pour from the wound. The woman struggled to remain conscious.

“He then stabbed at the man again and again and also punched him, which we say intended to kill the man.

“He slammed the man’s head in a frenzied attack. Blood was arced on the ceiling from the attack. McNally told the woman, ‘No one is getting out of here alive’, before repeatedly punching her while she begged him to stop.

“He then told her, ‘You are not getting out of here before I have shagged you, because I’m not seeing you again’.”

In a police interview, the woman described how he pulled her jeans, underwear and top off while she pleaded with him to stop, all while the other man lay bleeding and unconscious next to them, and then raped her.

“I said, it’s not right this, get off me,” she told police.

"He just did what he wanted to do to me. I felt dirty; I could not believe what had happened.

“He then hit the other man like he was taking out what he had done to me on him. I was trying to tell him to stop; I was crying the entire time.”

The woman was left with a stab wound to the neck, a fractured eye socket and bruising to her body.

The man suffered severe haemorrhaging to the front of his brain, and further bleeding inside his brain, as well as fractures to his skull, jaw and nose, multiple blunt force injuries and stab wounds, and suffered two seizures on the way to hospital.

He underwent two operations on December 26 and 28, and was still in hospital on January 17. Mr Hendron said he sustained "life threatening injuries and has long term loss of memory, abilities and functions".

Mr Hendron said McNally then left the house and messaged his wife to pick him up, who took him home to get his passport before driving him to Manchester Airport, where he bought a ticket to Dublin, but he was arrested by police in Terminal 3.

While in the car, his wife could see his knuckles were covered in blood, and said while he put his arm around her neck she could feel something pressing into her body.

McNally is charged with attempted murder, rape, and two counts of causing grievous bodily harm on December 22. He is also charged with an assault by beating on a second woman, his wife, also on that date, and a further assault occasioning actual bodily harm on December 20.

Wayne McNally denies the offences. The trial continues.
