A BRIGHOUSE before and after-school club has been branded inadequate following an Ofsted inspection.
The Robins Nest had previously been rated Good, but inspections noted staff were not DBS checked and children’s welfare was a risk in their visit.
They said: “The arrangements for safeguarding, including recruitment, are ineffective.
“The systems to check all staff are suitable to work with children are poor.
“Staff do not understand the safeguarding policy and they do not have an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
“Staff do not understand wider safeguarding issues such as protecting children from the risk of extreme views and ideology.
“Staff do not have a secure understanding of how to manage and minimise risks to children. This compromises children’s safety.”
Ofsted have ordered the club, which is based at Carr Green Primary School, to make urgent improvements to its service.
One strength was noted at the club, which was that children appeared to enjoy attending the club and would make independent play choices and talk confidently.
