WOMEN from the Queensbury Queens of the Mountain Cycling Club will be taking on the Chris Mitchell Hill Climb to raise awareness of the upcoming Manorlands Bronte Sportive event.

The climb takes riders from the bottom of Haworth over the famous cobbles to the top of the high street and will be held on Friday, May 10.

The route is the same one the men in the Tour de Yorkshire will take on in stage four of the race this Sunday and aims to show people that anyone can get up any hill, no matter what their fitness, their shape, their circumstances, or even what bike they are on.

“We want people to be able to ride the routes we do. We always get such a buzz being out in the stunning Yorkshire scenery. We especially love saying that we’ve ticked off a route that the Tour de Yorkshire professionals have taken on too,” said Queensbury Queens communications officer Elise Fitzgerald.

The Bronte Sportive is celebrating it’s 9th event this time round. It started back in 2010, known then as the ‘Race the Train’ event. Over the years it took on different routes and further challenges and became what it is today.

Organised by the Manorlands Hospice group, the sportive is a challenging cycling event and will take place on Sunday, July 21.

In previous years Manorlands have reached 250 entrants. Queensbury Queens CC is trying to raise more interest and a higher number of entrants this year.
