A KEIGHLEY textile company has revealed plans to expand its base, creating new jobs in the process.

West Yorkshire Spinners, which produces hand knitting yarns and knitted clothing, has submitted a planning application to extend its Royd Ings Avenue warehouse.

The company says the large extension would be built on a hardstanding area near the site, and “provide much needed room for a busy growing business.”

The extension will be mainly used for storage and the car parking will remain unchanged.

West Yorkshire Spinners is one of the few remaining worsted spinning companies left in the UK.

The planning application, submitted to Bradford Council, says the plans would involve the company increasing its staff from 67 to 72.

Bradford Council is expected to decide on the application in early July.
