REPAIRS to Bradford's Mirror Pool "may take some time," with Bradford Council still investigating what caused a pipe to burst.

The water feature in the city centre was switched off last Thursday after a pipe servicing the fountains was damaged. It meant the feature, which attracts thousands in warm weather, was dry for the Easter bank holiday.

The Council has now revealed the fountains will not be switched back on any time soon - with no details of when repairs will be completed.

A Council spokesperson, said: “We understand people’s disappointment that the Mirror Pool has been out of action during the school holidays. We are continuing to investigate the cause of the problem and await detailed reports to identify what needs to be done to fix it. As soon as we have received specialist input we will commission the necessary work and get it back working as soon as we can, unfortunately this may take sometime. We’re sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused.”

The mirror pool, which is in the shadow of City Hall, opened in 2012, and contains the highest fountain in any British city, capable of shooting water up to 100 ft (30m) into the air.

It was part of the £24,569,664 re-development of the area to create an "urban park" in the heart of the city.
