FIREFIGHTERS have now left the scene of the Ilkley Moor blaze, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed.

Crews and resources from across the region were called to the iconic beauty spot over the weekend after the fire took hold on Saturday afternoon.

Plumes of smoke could be seen over the town and a helicopter was scrambled to douse water on the moorland.

Firefighters remained on the moor until around 3pm today to monitor the area.

A man has been charged with arson over the fire.
