A DETERMINED man has completed a gruelling 100-mile triathlon to raise money for four different charities.
Pete Burden from Orford has been undertaking 10 miles a day in the run up to the big event to raise money for Warrington Shelter, Children with Cancer UK, Breast Cancer and The Poppy Appeal.
After watching the Pride of Britain awards, Pete was encouraged by his friends to try and complete his own challenge and he was amazed at how quickly donations came flooding in.
The 51-year-old took 10 hours to tackle the difficult route, finishing at The Greenwood pub in Greenwood Crescent.
Pete said: "It was hard. A few years ago I did 50 miles for Help For Heroes but this was really difficult- it took ten hours."
A number of people also took part in a fire walk during a family fun day at The Greenwood to congratulate Pete and help raise more funds for the charities.
Pete added: "There must have to have been more than 100 people at the pub.
"Everyone has properly dug deep, it is all down to them- it was a community day and all the kids came out.
"We have £3,000 so far and there's still lots to come in!"
Pete is hoping to push his fundraising total to £4,000 so each of his chosen charities will receive a £1,000 donation.
