FIRE crews were called to another moorland fire in the district, this time near Bolton Abbey in Skipton.

It follows moorland fires in Ilkley, Marsden, Bingley, and beyond.

Reports of the fire, on Barden Moor, came in at around 4pm.

A North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (NYFRS) spokesperson said four hectares of moorland was "well alight".

Three fire engines were at the scene at the height of the blaze, along with an argocat all terrain vehicle.

The spokesperson said the fire is "possibly deliberate".

As of 7.10pm, NYFRS said firefighters were due to leave the scene and it would be left with local gamekeepers.

Fire crews have remained on Ilkley Moor today damping down after the beauty spot was ravaged by fire, and one man has been charged with arson following the fire.

Causes of the fires have included people having barbecues on the moors and also fires being deliberately started.

After a scorching Easter weekend, there should be some relief in the coming days, with rain predicted tomorrow evening, during Thursday and Friday afternoon, and all day on Saturday, which will hopefully provide some much needed moisture for the moors.
