A West End superstar is lending his vocals to help raise money for an Amman Valley church.

Peter Karrie will be performing a fundraising event for St Catherine’s Church in Brynaman, as part of his Small Halls Tour, at Brynamman Public Hall on Friday, May 10.

The Welsh singer is honorary fellow of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and played the lead role in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical The Phantom of the Opera in London, Toronto, Canada, Vancouver, Singapore, Hong Kong and in the UK Tour in Bradford, and Manchester.

In 1994 and 1995 members of the Phantom of the Opera Appreciation Society voted him their favourite Phantom.

Married with six children, Peter is an ambassador for Bobath Children's Therapy Centre Wales, a registered charity based in Cardiff which provides specialist Bobath therapy to children from Wales who have cerebral palsy.

St Catherine’s Church Sunday School will be performing with Peter during the show along with the school choirs from Tairgwaith Primary School and Ysgol Brynaman and local talent Lauren Williams.

Lauren has recently been awarded first place in the Rotary Singing Award as well as going though to the next round of the Urdd Eistefdfod.

Peter will then perform some of his best-known songs from, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and many more.

A spokesperson for St Catherine’s Church said: “The event with Peter Karrie was going to be held at the church but it sold out in just three weeks.

“Due to the popular demand, the concert is now being held in Brynamman Public Hall which is a massive auditorium and we hope to fill it to raise as much as possible for the church.

“A percentage of the funds raised on the day will go to the church.”

Tickets are £10 each available from the cinema or by phoning 01269 826930 or 07779676720.
