POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a crash in West Bowling, where occupants of one of the vehicles fled the scene.

The crash happened in Upper Castle Street at the junction with Dalcross Street, at around 3.35pm on Thursday, April 11, involving a blue Ford Focus and a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus.

The Focus was heading along Upper Castle Street and the Sprinter was crossing the junction.

The minibus was left with considerable damage, and two men in the Focus left the scene on foot in the direction of a children's park.

No-one in the minibus was seriously injured.

PC Jon Moss, from the Roads Policing Unit, said: “Fortunately the occupants of the mini bus have only sustained minor injuries and have all been discharged from hospital.

“This could easily have been more serious as the impact between the vehicles was significant. I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone with dash cam footage to make contact with me.

“I would also like to appeal to people who may have seen either the Ford Focus car or the mini bus prior to the collision to make contact."

Witnesses are urged to call police on 101, quoting log number 1065 of April 11, use the live chat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website, or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
