THE Kinder Haven nursery in Clayton has been rated Good in its first Ofsted inspection.
The nursery, in Pasture Lane, was praised for its "welcoming and calm atmosphere".
Ofsted said: "Partnerships with parents are good.
"Parents are invited to a wide range of events to meet with staff, for example a stay and play session to enable parents to learn about the importance of play.
"The manager supports staff well to develop their practice.
"The atmosphere is welcoming and calm. Staff provide a wide range of stimulating activities that promote children's learning.
"Children's independence is actively encouraged and supported throughout the setting.
"The manager and the staff give a high priority to children with special educational needs or disabilities.
"Staff manage children's behaviour well."
To become Outstanding, the nursery was told to improve children's understanding of healthy lifestyles, and assess the progress of children who speak English as a second language better.
