TWO young people from Bradford who designed bouquets with UK children’s charity Barnardo’s and Prestige Flowers, are having their bouquets marketed by the firm to support the charity.

The firm have also given them a ‘gold award’ for flower arranging in Barnardo’s Listerhills office in Bradford.

Following the session last year for families, children and young people Barnardo’s works with in Bradford, Prestige Flowers came and presented Sophie (17) and Kyle (12), with their bouquets.

The designs have been put on sale by the firm as part of its support for Barnardo’s. For every order made, Prestige Flowers donates 25% of the overall order cost to Barnardo’s.

The young people’s bouquets can be bought via the website www.barnardosflowers.org.uk

Kyle said: "I was not keen on the flower arranging afternoon at first as I thought it was more a girl thing, but I started picking and arranging the flowers and noticed the formation and colours looked good.

"When I was told that my bouquet was going to be used as the official Barnardo’s one, I felt so proud and happy that I had achieved something special.

"I felt really good winning the gold award and enjoyed meeting all the staff and other young people at the events."

Sophie said: "I feel very proud of myself because I have been able to accomplish something.

"I wasn’t expecting a certificate in a frame, but it is really nice and I really enjoyed the day and getting the flowers was lovely.

"In future I want to use my design skills - I want to make my own clothes and pillows and other things for the home and for children.”

Manmeet Kaur, Barnardo’s Corporate Relationship Manager, said "Barnardo’s are delighted that to appreciate and reward Kyle and Sophie, Prestige Flowers presented them with their bouquets.

"It was a special moment and definitely an achievement."
