COUNCILLORS will be given an update on the numerous cycle schemes in the district at a meeting tonight.
Keeping the Wheels Spinning is the name of the Bradford District Cycle Strategy that was introduced in 2016 to shape cycling policy over 10 years.
Bradford Council's Regeneration and Environment Scrutiny Committee will receive an annual update on the strategy this evening.
The report gives updates on projects such as the City Connect cycle superhighway, which will link Shipley to Leeds, a planned cycleway linking Otley/ Burley to Ilkley and proposals to create better cycling routes in Keighley town centre.
Opening date finally set for Shipley to Bradford cycle route
A development group was recently set up to promote the creation of a cycle, walk and bridleway on part of the disused railway line from Cullingworth to Denholme.
The committee will also be told that all planning applications are now assessed on how they can accommodate cyclists, with developers urged to provide cycle storage facilities and improvements to make linking roads more cycle friendly.
And members will be told that Council officers have recently inspected the city centre to "identify local impediments to cyclists" such as high kerbs.
The committee meets in City Hall at 5.30pm.
