WEST Yorkshire Police are trying to trace a suspect after a man was assaulted with an iron bar in a shocking attack close to a pub in Shelf this afternoon.
The incident occurred on Cooper Lane near the Space4Craft shop and the Prince of Orange pub car park. The ambulance service was called to the scene, who in turn informed the police.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "We were called to the Prince of Orange Inn on Cooper Lane in Shelf at 2:53pm, with the ambulance service informed shortly beforehand.
"A 28-year-old male suffered a head injury after being assaulted with an iron bar. The victim has been taken to Halifax Royal Infirmary but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
"Enquiries are ongoing to trace a suspect for the attack."
