PLANS to turn an ice cream parlour into a bakery and a cafe have been submitted to Bradford Council.

Last year an application to convert 203 Otley Road in Undercliffe from an ice cream parlour to a mix of bakery, cafe and hot food takeaway was refused by Bradford Council.

The main issue with the plan was the takeaway element, with officers saying it would be too close to nearby schools - thus going against the Council's takeaway policies that prevent hot food takeaways from opening within 400metres of a school, children's centre or sports facility.

Takeaway plan latest to fall foul of healthy eating policy

Now the application has been re-submitted by Mrs S Ghafaripour, but with the takeaway element removed and the new business solely focusing on the bakery and cafe elements.

The business would open from 7am to 10pm.

A decision on the application is expected next month.
