A TEN-week programme of work to upgrade the gas network in Great Horton Road begins next weeks.

The £210,000 work to replace the ageing gas pipes begins on Monday, April 15, with almost 800 metres of old metallic pipes to be replaced with new durable plastic piping to ensure the safe supply of gas in coming years.

The work is the latest in a series of gas improvement works being carried out across the Bradford district by Northern Gas Networks.

Northern Gas Networks is working closely with Bradford Council on the project to minimise disruption, but to allow work to be carried out safely and efficiently, traffic management systems will need to be used along Great Horton Road.

Rolling two and three-way temporary traffic lights will be place on Great Horton Road, between Shearbridge Road and Richmond Road between April 15 and June 23.

A road closure will be in place in Back Laisteridge Lane at its junction with Great Horton Road for around two weeks from May 20 to June 2, and a clearly signed diversion route will be in place for motorists to follow.

Anna Mycoe, business operations lead for Northern Gas Networks, said: “We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during these works, and thank our customers for their patience and support in getting them completed as quickly as possible."

A Community Care Officer has been in the area speaking to businesses and residents which will be affected by the works to make them aware of the work.
