A PIZZA restaurant that will soon be opening its first Bradford branch has applied for permission to sell alcohol.

After months of speculation, Pizza Express announced it will be opening a 152 seat restaurant on Broadway in the city centre later this year.

It will be underneath The Light cinema, in 3,000sqft unit that has been empty since the cinema opened last May.

Now the restaurant chain has applied to Bradford Council for a licence to sell alcohol.

If approved, the branch will be able to serve alcohol between 11.30am and 11pm on Sunday to Thursday, and from 11.30am to 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday

The application is also for "Late night refreshment" - required when food will be served after 11pm - until 11.30pm and midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The licence also covers the playing of recorded music until closing time.
