AN inspirational teacher from Pudsey who specialises in English Literature has written a new book to help teachers whose students struggle with classic texts.
Jennifer Webb, assistant principal at Co-op Academy Leeds, has penned the book titled 'How to Teach English Literature - overcoming cultural poverty'.
Ms Webb said: “Many of the giants of the GCSE Literature canon feel out of touch to many young people.
"It is a challenge for all teachers to bridge the gap between those great writers and the lives of students in the 21st Century.
“I passionately believe that with clarity and careful consideration you can make every student a literary scholar and critic, regardless of their economic or social class and background.”
Ms Webb came from a low income, single parent household to read English at Oxford. Her book is available from Amazon.
