A MAN aged 73 has been jailed for more than six years for sexually abusing two young girls in the late 1970s and early 80s.

Jack Carroll (pictured), of Heatherlands Avenue, Denholme, was locked up at Bradford Crown Court for six and a half years for four counts of sexual abuse.

Detective Constable Alaine Stocks, of Bradford Safeguarding Unit, said afterwards: “Carroll subjected the victims to horrific abuse and then put them through the added stress of a trial. I would like to praise the victims for their bravery in coming forward reporting the abuse and, hopefully, today’s sentence can bring them some closure and allow them to move forward with their lives. West Yorkshire Police remains committed to tackling abuse no matter long ago it happened and we hope this sentence will encourage other victims to come forward.”
