PICTURE 1: It takes two to tackle Ces Podd as these youngsters from Birkenshaw C of E First School found out in 1988, after the former City player and his colleague Eric McManus turned out to show the youngsters a few tricks of the trade.

PICTURE 2: Bradford City Council took its final bow with one last procession and Cathedral service in 1974. As councillors and aldermen walked from the City Hall to the Cathedral, they were preceded by the city’s Police brass band. During his sermon the Bishop of Bradford, the Right Reverend Ross Hook, stated, "that much had been achieved by the Bradford City Council in its 127 years of history. Bradford was by far cleaner than it was, with an outstanding water supply."

PICTURE 3: In 1974, nurses from Bradford, including these four from St Luke’s Hospital, were extremely concerned that a wage increase at the end of the month would be swallowed up by increased food and accommodation costs.

PICTURE 4: Greengates footballer Billy Legg, one of the youngest players to turn out for Huddersfield Town in 1965, was hoping to return to his football career after recovering from a minor operation at St Luke’s Hospital in 1971.
