A NEW exhibition celebrating the women who worked in Bradford’s mills will open at an event tomorrow.
South Square Gallery in Thornton will be exhibiting Outside the Square until June 2.
The exhibition explores women’s role in the textile industry, and will include local examples of vibrant point paper patterns, created for the Jacquard looms which were used widely across Bradford.
Many of the original artists behind these works remain unknown.

The exhibition will also look at Thornton’s links to Bradford’s mill industry, and responses to the patterns by contemporary artists will also be on display in the gallery.
The exhibition will be launched with a free event at South Square tomorrow night, running from 6pm to 9pm. It will feature live music from These Men and site specific soundscape & projections.
