A GROUP of gypsies has taken up residence on one of Oakwell Hall Country Park's car park in Birstall.
The group, which reportedly involved about 11 caravans, moved onto the site of the bottom car park last Wednesday.
The weekly parkrun had to be cancelled at the weekend.
Comments on social media said they were not causing any problems and they are only using one corner of the car park.
People who posted on the Cleckheaton Matters Facebook page said the travellers had been very polite and just asked if any jobs needed doing.
Someone commented that they were in the area to attend a funeral.
A spokesman for Kirklees Council, which owns the site, said: "The council is aware of the encampment on the Oakwell Hall site and is undertaking the necessary legal proceedings for their eviction."
The Council's gypsy and travellers website dated on Thursday, March 28, said that a welfare visit has been undertaken.
