A GROWLING sex attacker who told one of his terrified victims that God had given him the power to eat people has been jailed for more than six years.

Marius Simkus was labelled “uncontrolled, aggressive and abusive’ after he abused two women on first dates.

Simkus, 35, of Wootton Street, West Bowling, Bradford, pleaded guilty to four offences of sexual assault, assault by penetration, two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and an assault by beating.

Prosecutor Stephen Wood said Simkus met his first victim on February 12 last year after “matching” with her on the Tinder dating site.

They exchanged messages on WhatsApp and she tried to “fob him off” before agreeing to go out with him.

Mr Wood said Simkus, who was assisted during the hearing by a Lithuanian interpreter, became aggressive and controlling during a visit to a casino in Leeds.

But the woman agreed to let him come back to her home for some food and wine.

Once inside the property, Simkus “almost immediately changed,” the court heard.

“It was like switching a light on,” his victim told the police.

Simkus grabbed her breasts in the kitchen and seized her by the arm, causing bruising.

He threatened to rape her if she called the police, grabbed her crotch and again groped her breasts.

“He was drunk, shouting and swearing and calling her a bitch,” Mr Wood said.

“He said God has given him the power and he could eat people.”

Simkus was violent with the police when they arrived to arrest him.

On bail and under investigation, he struck again in Bradford on November 10.

After exchanging messages with a woman, he invited her to his address “for some fun” but she declined the invitation.

He then turned up at her home address in a taxi and poured her several drinks.

When she became “woozy” he got boisterous and she realised there was “a bit of a weirdo side to him.”

Simkus stroked her neck, growled, kissed her and then slapped her hard on the face.

When she locked herself in the bathroom, he kicked at the door.

He pulled her into the bedroom, grabbed her thong and sexually abused her.

By now he was wearing just his boxer shorts, the court heard.

When the woman went to check on her young daughter, Simkus leapt on to the child’s bed and then slapped the woman, causing her nose to bleed.

“He was growling like an animal and crawling round on all fours,” Mr Wood said.

DNA evidence linked Simkus to the sex attack and he was arrested and kept in custody.

A victim personal statement from the first woman had she now suffered sleepless nights and had not been on a night out since.

The second victim suffered panic attacks, anxiety and depression.

She did not trust men and was paranoid about security.

Abigail Langford, barrister for Simkus, said he was intoxicated at the time of both incidents and extremely remorseful.

His alcohol consumption “got the better of him” and he had undertaken courses in custody to address the problem.

Judge Colin Burn told Simkus: “When in drink you behaved in an uncontrolled, aggressive, abusive and criminal way.”

His victims’ terror was increased by the fact that they did not know Simkus well and were unsure how the situation would end.

“Your behaviour was worryingly bizarre,” Judge Burn said.

Simkus was jailed for seven months for the first incident and for five years and seven months for the second incident, involving the assault by penetration when he was on bail.

The sentences ran consecutively.

A restraining order bans him from contacting his victims and he must sign on the sex offender register for an indefinite period.
