A COMMUNITY clean up is planned in Thorpe Edge as part of the Great Bradford Spring Clean.

It will bring together Thorpe Edge Community Project, young people from Springfield Centre with Bradford Youth Service, and residents on Tuesday, April 16, the day before Thorpe Edge Community Project’s Rockwell Centre Spring Fest.

The aim of the clean-up - from noon to 2pm - is to litter pick the area around Rockwell Centre, including removing fly-tipped rubbish and get a mixture of people working together.

Bradford Council will supply bags, gloves, litter pickers and will collect the waste collected by volunteers at a given location.

A spokesperson for Bradford Council said: “The Council does not have the finances to employ a vast army of street cleaners to run round after everyone who dumps litter in our district, so we need volunteers to give us a hand."
