PLANS to introduce match day parking restrictions around Bradford City's grounds have been approved.

Bradford Council's Bradford West Area Committee passed proposals for a series of traffic orders around the grounds at a meeting earlier this week.

The orders include parking bans when Bradford City Football Club have a home game, and would include roads around the stadium, such as Midland Road and Valley Parade.

There had been objections to the proposals - a petition signed by 45 people had been submitted to the Council.

But at the meeting members were told the petitioners did not give a reason they were against the plans, and did not provide any contact details. No objectors attended the meeting, and Councillors were told officers had no way of contacting them.

Plans for new traffic order on Idle Road to be scrapped by Council

The Council had proposed the scheme by saying: "At present supporters park indiscriminately around the stadium making it difficult for businesses to operate, and obstruct pedestrians and road users.

"The advertised proposals would improve access to local businesses, businesses associated with Bradford City FC as well as managing the parking close to the football ground, thereby improving emergency access, pedestrian safety and movements around the perimeter of the stadium."

The committee voted to approve the plans.
