A SEARCH is on for mascots to take part in an annual charity fundraiser.

Recruitment has begun for the Sue Ryder Mascot Gold Cup, on April 28.

A launch event was held at the Keighley headquarters of main sponsor Rotherwood Recruitment, whose own mascot will be among those lining-up to compete at Wetherby Racecourse & Conference Centre.

Present at the launch was Brad Bear, mascot for the Lord Mayor of Bradford's charity appeal, who is also taking part in the Gold Cup – representing Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice Manorlands and Bradford Nightstop.

Since it was launched 14 years ago, the Mascot Gold Cup has raised over £150,000 for the Sue Ryder charity.

Organisers are keen to hear from anyone interested in taking part in this year's event.

Bob Tole, for the hospice's Riddlesden and East Morton support group, said: "We'd like to see as many mascots as possible.

"If anyone fancies a go but does not have a mascot, we have a choice of 40 that people can adopt for the day."
