YORKSHIRE Water has been forced to suspend work in some areas of Bradford after workers were subject to "serious threats".
In a statement, the company said: "Over the last few days a number of Yorkshire Water colleagues have been subject to serious threats to their safety whilst attempting to carry out work in specific areas of BD3 in Bradford.
"Due to the nature of the threats we have taken the decision to suspend all activity in these specific areas.
"We understand this will impact some customers who are waiting for appointments and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused."
It adds: "However, we hope that people will understand that the safety of our colleagues is our top priority.
"We are working with the Police to find a solution to the issue and we hope to resume work in the area as soon as possible.
"In the meantime we will do everything we can to assist customers in the area.
"Anyone with any questions or concerns can request a call back or contact us online through our website at www.yorkshirewater.com.”
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We are aware of the concerns raised by Yorkshire Water and we are working with them to address the issues.”
