PLANS to demolish a "dated" 1970s clubhouse and build a new club and three houses in its place has been approved.
The application to transform the site of the Fairfax Club on Main Street in Menston went before Bradford Council's Keighley and Shipley Area Planning Panel yesterday, where members voted to support the scheme.
Planning officer Martyn Burke told members the site was located next to the Grade II* listed Fairfax Hall. He said some concerns had been raised about how the development would impact the hall. But he added: "There will be significant benefits in terms of getting rid of of the existing building and replacing it with a more modern building and a high quality scheme of housing."

He said it would be a "community asset" to the village.
The plans had been submitted by Park Lane Homes and had led to thirty people writing to the Council to support the scheme.
Another six wrote to object to the plans.
Members of the panel unanimously voted to approve the application.
