CHESHIRE firefighters have been commended for their work in saving the life of a motorcyclist following a crash.

The four based in Northwich – Ronnie Moore, Daryl Codling, Anant Patel and Steve Tucker – received a Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service Chief Fire Officer's commendation following their work on October 7 last year in Delamere.

Along with four Tarporley colleagues and the service's medical director, the crew attended a high-speed collision between a motorbike and a car on the A556 Chester Road.

CPR was performed at the scene to save the life of the seriously injured 47-year-old motorcyclist, who was then airlifted to hospital.

The driver of the Volvo car, a 75-year-old man from Delamere, was also injured and taken to Aintree Hospital in a serious condition.

The nine commendations were presented by Chief Fire Officer Mark Cashin at Northwich Fire Station on Tuesday, March 19.

The firefighters from Tarporley were Dave Windsor, Paul Dale, Kevin Rowlands and Alex Armstrong, along with medical director Dr Mark Forrest.
