A MOBILITY scooter driver has been fined after he fell asleep at the wheel while carrying a can of lager.
Michael Mairs was stopped by police officers in the town centre earlier this month.
And the 52-year-old admitted being drunk in charge of a carriage and a public order offence at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Tuesday, March 19.
Police were called to Academy Way on the afternoon of Sunday, March 3, after receiving reports of a mobility scooter driver carrying a can of Carlsberg having fallen asleep while the vehicle was in motion.

Mairs, of James Lee House, then became verbally abusive to officers who attended the scene.
Magistrates fined him a total of £60 and told to pay court costs of £85.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30.
