A DRIVER has been landed with a £2,000 repair bill after his car was attacked by a man wielding an iron rod in Sunbridge Road.

The man, who asked not to be named, had just left his mosque and pulled onto Sunbridge Road when he came face to face with the "extremely aggressive" man brandishing an iron rod.

He allegedly caused £2,000 damage to the VW car and hurled racial obscenities at onlookers before nine police officers pinned him down outside Aldermanbury House in Bradford city centre.

He said: "He was a lunatic.

"He was shouting stuff like 'go back to your own country' and was saying 'everyone needs to wake up'.

"This was about 300 yards from the mosque I had just come out of.

"I stopped and phoned police and they arrived about 10 minutes later.

"He ran into the apartment block and came out of there, then went missing for about 35 minutes."
