Video has emerged of a dramatic arrest in Bradford city centre yesterday evening after reports of "an extremely aggressive" man leaving a trail of criminal damage.

Around nine officers were seen pinning a man down outside Aldermanbury House at the junction of Sunbridge Road and Godwin Street at 7.50pm.

The man was so aggressive during the arrest officers had to use a PAVA spray to incapacitate him.

Sunbridge Road was temporarily blocked off during the arrest, with six police vehicles in the road.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police told the Telegraph & Argus that a man, believed to be intoxicated, had been reported "smashing up" the interior of a building further up Sunbridge Road.

CCTV cameras picked him up on Sunbridge Road and officers were deployed to the scene.

The police spokesman said: "The man became so aggressive officers had to use a Pava spray.

"He was extremely aggressive, but he was arrested safely and no one else is believed to have been injured."

A crowd of people had gathered to watch as officers pinned down and restrained the man before locking him in the back of a police van.
