A LORRY packed with the remains of crushed cars has overturned on the M62 sliproad near Brighouse.

Entry to the eastbound motorway at Junction 25 has been closed after the vehicle toppled over at 2.30pm and its cargo was spread over the embankment.

A photograph of the scene taken by Highways England officers shows the old cars scattered across the embankment with the huge lorry on its side.

Highways England said vehicle recovery is underway, but the slip road is likely to remain closed for some time.

The lorry was being recovered at 4.30pm by a crane and officers said the crushed cars would be taken away after that.

The lengthy recovery process means Highways England cannot give a time for when the slip road will be re-opened.
