A JURY will be sworn in today for the trial of the men accused of murdering Amriz Iqbal and conspiring to pervert the course of justice, it was confirmed at Bradford Crown Court last week.

Peter Moulson QC, prosecuting the case, said that evidence was set to start being heard tomorrow, Tuesday March 26.

The Telegraph & Argus website will be running a live blog from the courtroom alongside our usual coverage online and in print.

Three of the four defendants involved in the trial were in court last week to deny all the charges alleged against them.

Mohammed Nisar Khan, who was not present in court, would also be contesting all the allegations, it was stated.

Tony Grant, 39, of Queens Road, Bradford, denied murdering Amriz Iqbal in Sandford Road, Bradford Moor, Bradford, on October 3 last year and attempting to murder Adnan Ahmed on the same date.

He also pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, between October 2 and 5, with others to remove motor insurance details from the Motor Insurance Database for a Kia Sedona car with intent to pervert the course of justice.

Nadeem Khan, 35, of Gledhow Wood Road, Roundhay, Leeds, also denied that offence.

Grant pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to pervert the course of justice, between October 2 and 4, with others to destroy by fire the Whitehall Service Station in Birkenshaw, Bradford.

Salman Ismail, 31, of West Street, off Idle Road, Bradford, also denied that offence.

Ismail further denied arson at the petrol station being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

He and Grant pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to pervert the course of justice by attempting to unlawfully obtain CCTV from the petrol station.

The court heard that Mohammed Nisar Khan, 41, of Holme Lane, Tong, Bradford, will be represented during the trial by Simon Csoka QC.

Khan will deny the charges of murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice when he attends court on Monday.

Mr Moulson said the trial, before the Recorder of Bradford, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC, would last up to five weeks.

Mr Iqbal, 40, of Wetherby, died in hospital following reports that two men had been struck by a vehicle and assaulted.
