POLICE have been called in to help stranded vehicles after the River Wharfe burst its banks in Ilkley.
Officers from Operation Steerside, who are normally tasked with taking the district's dangerous drivers off the road, tweeted this photograph of a lorry partially submerged in rising river water.
Heavy rain has fallen across West Yorkshire all day, but is set to clear tonight and tomorrow morning.
West Yorkshire Police tweeted: “Bradford District are currently assisting partner agencies in dealing with flooding in the Ilkley area of the district. The A65,A64,Middleton Ave & Carters Lane are closed due to heavy flooding. Please do not approach these roads and only travel if your journey is urgent.”
