A WET and cold Saturday only got worse for some residents in Keelham when a lorry carrying animal waste spilt some of its load onto their cars and houses.

The front of homes in Brighouse Road were splashed with a black substance while a BMW car was covered in the lorry's cargo at noon on Saturday.

One home's front door was almost half covered in the substance.

One man who lived nearby said: "I came out of my house about 10 minutes after it had happened and it was the smell that hit me.

"I walked up the road and it looked like black tar on the ground.

"It was splashed over a house and car.

"One black BMW was completely drowned in it and other people's homes and front doors have been covered."

Two workmen could be seen sweeping the road to clear up the spillage on Saturday.
