A SCHOOL in the Bradford district enjoyed its trip to the Industrial Museum, with pupils learning about life in the mills during the 19th Century.

A class at Eastburn School in Keighley are studying Titus Salt, as a local person who made a difference to the Bradford community.

As part of that history project, they are looking at what it would be like to be a child working in the mills.

Their teacher, Heather Allister, explained: "The children are writing a diary as if they worked in a mill in the Victorian era.

"At the Industrial Museum, they were taught how kids as young as five had to crawl under heavy machinery to clean up wool that had been dropped, which was very dangerous.

"They also had a demo of the weaving machines and the noise they used to make.

"We've done it before and it's definitely something we're looking to keep doing annually."
