CONTENTIOUS plans to install new road restrictions on a Bradford street will be discussed by Councillors next week.

In 2017 TLC Travel were granted planning permission to build a new bus depot on Spring Mill Street, off Manchester Road.

One condition of the application is that new traffic orders are installed to prevent parking on sections of the road - including where it meets Manchester Road and outside the proposed new entrance to the site.

This is to "protect sightlines and maintain access for vehicles entering and exiting the proposed bus depot."

There had been several objections to these orders, including from local businesses who fear restricting parking on the road will affect their trade.

Plans for new traffic order on Idle Road to be scrapped by Council

The orders will be discussed by Bradford Council's Bradford East Area Committee next Thursday. Members will be advised to approve plans for five metre "no waiting" restrictions either side of the proposed entrance - down from 15 metres each side as originally proposed.

The planning application was for a bus park, bus service building the refurbishment of an office building on the site - a vehicle breaking yard.

The entrance will be created by knocking down part of a wall on Spring Mill Street.

The committee will meet in City Hall at 6pm.
