A PROMINENT empty building on one of Shipley’s main roads could become a dessert parlour.

The unit on Otley Road was one of two that was vacated when car dealership Colin Appleyard re-located from Shipley town centre to Canal Road in Bradford last year.

A planning application has now been submitted by Sajid Sadiq to convert one of the two buildings into a dessert parlour.

The plans, submitted this week to Bradford Council, say the new business would create three full time and two part time jobs. It would open from 10.30am to midnight on Monday to Saturday and from noon to 10.30pm on Sundays.

Plans for this new retail development in Shipley have been approved

The plans are for the Colin Appleyard building next to the Old House at Home pub, and do not include the building closest to Market Street. There will be 10 parking spaces.

Bradford District has seen a number of new dessert parlours, many of which stay open until the late evening, in recent years, but there are not currently any in Shipley.

A decision on the application is due in May.
