A WEATHER warning has been issued by the Met Office, warning of strong winds which are set to batter the Bradford district overnight and tomorrow.

The yellow warning for wind will be in place from 9pm today until 3pm tomorrow, with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour set to blow across the district.

Up to two inches of rain is set to fall today, and almost constant rain is expected for much of the rest of the week, as the UK stays in the grips of Storm Gareth.

The Met Office is warning people to expect travel disruption due to the wind, with some bus and train services set to be affected, extending journey times, and delays likely for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges.

Powercuts and other service disruption is also possible due to the wind.

Paul Gundersen, Met Office chief meteorologist, said: "A spell of strong northwesterly winds is expected to develop across much of England and Wales through Wednesday.

"Gusts of up to 50 to 55mph are likely inland. Winds will gradually ease during the afternoon."
