ST Cuthbert & the First Martyrs’ Josephine Bamford has been nominated for Supporting Staff Member of the Year on the back of more than 20 years’ service.

Juggling three roles on a daily basis, Mrs Bamford goes “the extra mile” to help children and their parents.

This included helping refugee families settle into school and their homes, including sourcing home furnishings and white goods for families in her own time.

In the nomination, it said: “Mrs Bamford’s dedication and reliability are invaluable to this school.

“She is kind, compassionate and patient with pupils and their families. Mrs Bamford has an excellent relationship with parents and goes the extra mile for them.

“Recently, with a lot of hard work, she gained our school the prestigious, Sanctuary School Award.

“There are too many things to list what Mrs Bamford has done for our superb school over the years.

“She is a loving parent herself to three grown up children and a fabulous grandmother.

“She makes time for everyone without a moments complaint. In our opinion she is very deserving of this nomination.”

Mrs Bamford works as a nursery nurse, outreach worker and teaching assistant at the school.
