A COUNCIL-run care home in Bradford has been classed as 'good' by Care Quality Commission inspectors after a previous inspection two years ago found in needed to improve.

Beckfield Care Home, in Bolton Lane, has been visited by a team of inspectors on February 4 to assess the quality of care being delivered at the home as part of a scheduled review of services.

They determined the home was 'good' in the five areas it inspected which determined whether the facility was: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

The report stated that staff were caring, compassionate and knew their residents very well including their care and support needs.

They also noted people were encouraged to do as much as possible for themselves to build up and maintain their independence.

Feedback from residents, staff and family praised the management team and said they were both supportive and approachable.

The CQC inspectors also stated there had been improvements to care records and medicines management since their previous inspection in 2017.

Coun Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council's Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said:

“We are always striving to make sure our care homes provide a happy and health environment for our residents and those in short term care.

“This report recognises the effort and handwork the staff and management have put in to ensuring this is the case in Beckfield.

“We will continue to support Beckfield, and all our care homes, to deliver high standards of care for the people in the District.”

Beckfield is registered to provide accommodation and personal care to a maximum of 35 older people. The home provides long term care, intermediate care and respite (short term) care. People living there also have access to a day centre, which is attached to the home.

Beckfield was last inspected by the CQC in November 2017 when they were rated as requires improvement.
