A BRADFORD business is likely to be given a £200,000 grant that will help it create new jobs in the district.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority will discuss the requested grant at a a meeting of its Business Investment Panel on Thursday.

However, all details of the business are being kept confidential, and the public and press will have to leave the meeting when the request is discussed.

A report by the authority reveals that a business in the Bradford district has requested a £200,000 grant as part of an overall £1,059,000 investment.

The investment is expected to create 18 jobs.

Details of the business are included in an appendix to the meeting’s agenda, however the appendix is confidential. The report says: “It is considered that the public interest in maintaining the content of the appendix as exempt outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information as publication could prejudice current and future decision making.”

At the same meeting the panel will decide whether to provide a £148,000 to an unnamed Wakefield business as part of a £1,480,000 investment that will create 12 jobs. Details of that business are also being withheld.
